How do I install the dome top cleanstream filter?
Remove old filter and clean sealing surface on lid. Carefully slide opening of filter over cage. Push bottom of filter firmly down until it seats on the filter post. Place enclosed rubber washer on the threaded post. Secure filter in place with existing filter nut. Do not over tighten. Do not use filter plate supplied with vac. How often should I clean the dust collector's cartridge filter?
This can vary widely depending on how often your dust collector is used and what kind of dusts it's exposed to but you should typically clean it only once you've noticed a considerable drop in suction performance. In our experience this can be around once per year, but with heavy amounts of sanding it could be as often as once per month. A meter such as our Filter Efficiency Gauge can also be used to monitor pressure buildup and inform you when the filter needs to be cleaned.
How do I clean this filter?
Clean this filter using compressed air blown from the outside of the filter. Click "Read More" for further instructions.
Why should I upgrade my single-stage filter?
Standard single-stage dust collectors are typically equipped with a cloth bag filter rated for particles 1 micron in size. While effective for trapping some dusts, they still let through the smallest particles that are in fact the most damaging to your health as they can become deeply lodged within your sinus cavities. Additionally, many wood dust have been shown in studies to be carcinogenic. This independently certified HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns (the same level of filtration used in hospital environments) so woodworkers can rest assured that their hobby won't hurt their health.
When should I replace this filter?
With regular maintenance, our cartridge filters can easily last up to 5 years. Your filter should only be replaced if thorough cleanings do not help to restore your suction performance.
Which dust collectors does this filter work with?
The outside diameter of your collector's barrel must measure between 14" to 20-1/4" for the filter bracket to fit onto. A base plate adapter is included with this kit to create a flat surface for the filter to mount onto if necessary. The barrel's inside orifice (which is usually smaller in diameter to prevent dust from below swirling upwards) cannot be bigger than 13" in diameter. Will the 18" x 16" sound filter fit my dust collector?
This product is designed for use with Oneida Air dust collectors with an external 18" diameter cartridge filter that is attached via J-Bolts to the plenum elbow; this includes all Super Dust Gorilla, Pro Series, Dust Gorilla Pro, and Direct Drive dust collectors manufactured after 2012. If you have an older system with a filter that is secured to the plenum via a threaded rod running through the center of the filter stack, you will need to purchase an additional 17" threaded rod length and a coupler (available at any local hardware store) to provide enough room to attach the Stacking Sound Filter. Please Note: This item is not designed for our High Vacuum systems, items #XXK050133 and #XXK050333, as there is not enough room to attach the sound filter when the system is mounted to the standard leg kit. Please refer to the 18" compact sound filter instead (item #BSS181000).
Will the 13" x 14" sound filter fit my dust collector?
This product is designed for use with Oneida Air dust collectors with an external 13" dia. cartridge filter that is attached via J-Bolts to the plenum elbow; this includes all V-Systems (1.5HP to 5HP) manufactured after 2012. If your system has a filter that is secured to the plenum via a threaded rod running through the center of the filter stack, you will need to purchase an additional 14" threaded rod length and a coupler (available at any local hardware store) to provide enough room to attach the Stacking Sound Filter.
Can Stacking Sound Filters be combined?
Yes; If you have room underneath the filter assembly (varies by model) then you can stack multiple sound filters, however, the resulting noise reduction per filter is not linear (additive) and is subject to diminishing returns. For example: 1 Sound Filter = 6-7 dBA total reduction 2 Sound Filters = ~9 dBA total reduction 3 Sound Filters = ~10 dBA total reduction 4+ Sound Filters = ~10 dBA total reduction
What is the difference between this unit and the older Plenum Exhaust Silencers?
Both the Stacking Sound Filter and the Exhaust Silencer offer similar performance in terms of noise reduction, but exhaust silencers must be installed into the plenum assembly and will increase the overall footprint of the system by 12" to 36" and will require additional components (hangers, square to rounds, etc.). Exhaust Silencers are intended for installation into long transitional ducting such as when the filter is located far from the collector - typical of industrial systems such as the Direct Drive. Comparatively, the Stacking Sound Filters can be installed quickly and easily, requiring no additional components.
